自ら再話または創作した物語を絵画に翻案した新訳風土記集の第5ライン「唐櫃由来譚」。
これは、「唐櫃」という実際に日本のとある地域にかつて存在していた土葬の習俗から着想を得て作者である私自身が「唐櫃の由来の昔話」として創作しました。
家を追い出された娘が山姥の知恵を使い、心穏やかな若者と結婚して共白髪まで仲睦まじく暮らした婚姻成就の物語。このおはなしから着想し、派生した様々な女性たちの生と死がテーマです。

The fifth line of the "Folklore of the New Adaptation," a collection of paintings based on stories I have retold or created myself, is titled "Karouto Yuraitan" (The Origin of the Karouto).
This story was inspired by the "Karouto," a burial custom that actually existed in a certain region of Japan, and I, the author, created it as "The Folktale of the Origin of the Karouto."
It is a story of a daughter who, driven out of her home, uses the wisdom of a mountain hag to marry a kind-hearted young man and lives happily ever after with him. This story serves as the starting point for various derivative works exploring the themes of life and death of different women.
